What follows on this page is a hotchpodge (I dont know how to spell that, do you?) of links and bits and pieces. Some of the individuals and groups listed here have had an influence on DrumDance' style, others have been kind enough to include us in their websites. Some of them are a regular backdrop to our everyday life.

Music Links

Many of these CDs are available through FatChanceBellyDance (they have great taste) but if not linked here Google away.
Music of the Fellahin - recorded by Aisha Ali. The song Khudni Ma'ek inspired me verrry much (I'd been listening to this album for a while and one day I heard this song for the ?th time and tears poured down my face - must have been 1994 or so)
Music of the Ghawazee - more of the same
Master Musicians of Jajouka  - Hypnotic to say the least
Uncle Mafufo and Sirocco - Country Dance wow
Musicians of the Nile - Oh Bird Upon a Tree, the mizmars kick butt
Mahmoud Fadl - Drummers of the Nile - great bunch of rhythms
Helm - often playing for FatChanceBellyDance
Misirli Ahmet - slick, fast and amazing
Jas of Khafif has an excellent resource for ME style drumming. Ive also found C. K. Ladzekpo's website an excellent one for West African

.......ramble.....

Queens of the Stone Age, Foofighters, Soundgarden (sadly no more) get me through the dishes and between A and B on the road. When I want to relax I go into the backyard with my lady, a glass of wine and some Sun Ra and Cal Tjader. As you may have guessed there is lot of music in my life but luckily my kids are buying heaps of CD's.
My day job (part-time thankfully - although I do enjoy some of it) is Maths Lecturer at USQ here in sunny Toowoomba. I (and my students) use Graphmatica for quick and easy 2D graphs. Or Scilab if I we need more power.
I, Peter Van Vuuren wrote these pages my partner Madonna tried to make sure I didnt say anything to stupid. If you do find something stupid on these pages its my fault and mine alone, but let me know please: doolicats@dodo.com.au. Bye.
